The Friends of the Dorothy C. Benson Senior Multipurpose Complex, Inc. (Friends of Benson) is a nonprofit charitable organization dedicated to supporting and enhancing the programs, services and experiences available at the Benson Center.

The Friends of the Dorothy C. Benson Senior Multipurpose Complex, Inc. (Friends of Benson) was established as a 501(c)(3) charitable organization in 2004 and is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors, Friends of Benson works alongside the Center to help provide resources that extend beyond traditional funding — creating new opportunities for adults age 55 and older to stay active, engaged, connected and independent.

The mission of Friends of Benson is to advocate, raise funds and support programs and services at the Benson Center that help Fulton County residents age 55 and older live more active, fulfilling and independent lives.
Our Vision
We envision the Benson Center as a welcoming place of connection, discovery and opportunity — where aging adults can explore new interests, build meaningful relationships and enjoy experiences that enrich every stage of life.

Friends of Benson provides supplemental funding and resources that help strengthen programs, introduce new opportunities and enhance the overall Benson Center experience.
Over the years, Friends of Benson has helped make possible a wide range of programs, improvements and services throughout the Center.
Benson Services, Programs, Classes & Events
FITNESS & WELLNESS
Supporting opportunities that help Benson members stay active and healthy.
- Helped fund the purchase of aqua bikes and instructor training
- Obtained grant funding for swimming lessons
- Supported Life Enrichment and Fitness programs
- Subsidized Foot Clinic services
PROGRAMS & ENRICHMENT
Helping bring new classes, activities and experiences to the Benson community.
- Sponsored woodworking and leather classes
- Sponsored the Genealogy Class
- Supported the weekly At the Movies program featuring national and international films
- Provided supplemental funding for programs, events and supplies throughout the Multipurpose and Adult Day Centers
TECHNOLOGY & ACCESS
Investing in technology that keeps Benson members learning and connected.
- Funded the installation and initial operating costs of multi-gig Wi-Fi throughout the Center
- Purchased laptops for the computer room and technology classes
- Supported initiatives designed to expand virtual access to popular Benson classes
TRANSPORTATION & MEMBER SERVICES
Helping make Benson programs and services more accessible.
- Purchased the Benson bus and provided funding toward its maintenance
- Sponsored and managed an Uber Pilot Program
- Supported the Benson Center Rental Program
- Provided funding for Benson Notary Public licensing
CENTER IMPROVEMENTS
Creating an even more welcoming and comfortable environment for Benson members.
- Purchased new lobby furniture
- Added outdoor rocking chairs
- Supported the Benson Gardens with flowers and volunteer assistance
- Helped provide equipment, supplies and other resources needed throughout the Center
COMMUNITY & CELEBRATIONS
Bringing people together is an important part of life at Benson. Friends of Benson has proudly supported special celebrations and community events, including:
- Valentine’s Day celebrations
- Independence Day celebrations
- Holiday festivities
- Benson Center anniversary celebrations
